The Brazilian Army has faced challenges operating in low light conditions, which has impacted soldiers' tactical abilities and situational awareness on the battlefield. According to a report by Valor Econômico, General Edson Leal Pujol, a General of the Brazilian Army, has stated that the Army is in need of equipment that provides "greater lethality, better protection, and greater situational awareness."
