Nature of MKU armor panels -
MKU manufactures lightweight armor panels in a variety of configurations using various composite materials like aramid,
polyethylene, ceramics, etc, either alone or in combination with each other. The selection of material to be used for any solution
depends on the level of protection required, maximum allowable weight, thickness, end use application and usage conditions.
Aramid Panels - Aramid panels are manufactured by MKU in both semi-rigid and rigid configurations. They are lightweight, cost effective
and offer stable ballistic performance and physical properties under a wide gamut of temperature ranges. They are ideal for spall liner applications as well as for floorings to enhance ballistic performance.
Polyethylene Panels - Polythene panels from MKU can be easily moulded into complex shapes. They are lightweight, thin and moisture
resistant. They offer excellent multi-hit protection capabilities and good acoustic absorption properties. They are ideal for marine applications due to their moisture resistant properties.
Advanced Ceramics Composite Panels - More cost effective than polyethylene & aramid panels, Ceramic composites panels from MKU provide good
protection against armor piercing ammunition. They perform well across a wide temperature range and offer multi-hit capability. These panels are much lighter than traditional steel
armor systems for some specific threats and can be cut and delivered in desired shapes.
Flexible Panels - Flexible panels from MKU are extremely flexible, lightweight and easy to install. They are ideal for flooring inside vehicles. Made from high performance aramid fabric, they are corrosion resistant and need minimal maintenance. They provide protection against hand guns, sub machine guns ad fragments upto 600m/s.
Spall Liners - MKU offers customised solutions in spall liners which help in reducing the cone of fragments when the vehicle is affecte by kinetic energy projectiles such as APDS. They are made using high performance polyethylene, S2 glass and aramid
